The Golden Age Audio PRE-73 Dlx MKII preamp stacks up some extensive options, starting with the rich sonic character of the Carnhill transformer in the microphone preamp itself and ending with HPF and Air Boost controls. This unit is ideal if the feel of the preamp that came built into your audio interface is a bit lacking in colour, especially since the PRE-73 Dlx MKII has been directly based on the Neve 1073 preamp. To bring every bit of flavour out of the audio you're recording, you get a four-step high-pass filter for keeping the lower frequencies under control and, because some 1073-style preamps tend to sound a little dark, the extra Air Boost function can be engaged at any moment to inject the sound with some more modern sparkle.
